HP LaserJet 1100 Windows 10: Review and Comparison with Other Models

Thanks for this! I've had my HP1100A printer forever, and would hate to have to give it up; it's a GREAT printer! And the newer ones are physically much larger too. This has been a main reason I've been resisting updating my Windows 7 Pro computer; and it's starting to show age problems.

None of the solutions listed worked for my. Any driver I tried was not accepted by windows 10 64. After the dialog to select a driver from a list, and clicking "Have Disk", any folder with HPLJ1100 drivers remained empty.

Then I looked at my old Win7 PC, and identified the folder prnhp001.inf_amd64_neutral_081cf2b90ec9e6d5 with the HP Laserjet 1100 driver files that were placed there by the Windows Upade mechanism, when I installed my printer on Windows 7 years ago. But as the printer has not been updated since, why would those drivers no longer work?

So I copied them to a folder on the new Windows 10 system, and pointed the driver selection dialog "Have Disk" there. And voila! It worked. I got a list with HP printer models that included the LJ 1100. After intallation, everything workded as before on Win7.

I already have a parallel to USB cable, that I used successfully with my previous Windows Vista machine. However, my current Windows 10 (64bit) machine will not recognize the HP 1100 connected to the other end. Plug-and-Play doesn't work, and I have even tried installing a generic USB print driver, and even a generic LPT1 print driver. I have also tried generic PCL 5 and PCL 6 drivers. Nothing avails.

The exactly steps to install a parallel to USB cable to Win10 should be that power on HP 1100 -> connect to parallel cable -> connect to parallel to USB cable -> the last step is the most important is that plugging USB to Win10 -> Last step

Anyway, I tried your sequence of connecting things from the LaserJet 1100 back to the computer. As soon as I plug in the USB connector, that Unspecified/USB2.0-Print device shows back again. When I tried deleting it again, it seemed to lock up. When I repeated the hookup sequence, a 2nd USB2.0-Print device appeared. Likely I need to go back to the Command line and clear the spooler again. It appears to me that there is no way to software-connect any hardware device to USP2.0-Print. I am just chasing in circles here.

A new printer "HP Laserjet 1100 (MS)" appeared in the "Printers" section of the Device Manager (isolated from the rest of printers, all listed under the "Print queues" category) and the printer appeared also in the "Printers" section of the "Devices and Printers" (Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers".

You may be able to find use with the HP deskjet 1015 driver as with the HP laserjet p1100 driver which you can also find on this website. These are very old but popular printers 10 years ago. This printer has been around for more than 20 years. The drivers are not always up-to-date. See also the HP laserjet 3380 printer as well as the HP laserjet 1200 driver which was also very popular. There is a Windows 7 driver and also a Windows 10 driver. Should the Windows 10 not work then try the Windows 7 driver and run it in the compatability mode of Windows 10 or Winodws 11. There is also the HP integrated module driver XP which was an XP driver. There is as well as the HP laserjet 1020 driver and the much older HP laserjet 1100 driver (this one) on this website. 2ff7e9595c
